For a long time now there has been an ongoing search for newer and more effective methods to cure stress and stress-induced diseases. In naturopathy, various therapeutic methods are found to minimize the effects of stress which include lack of focus, anxiety, depression, hypertension, chronic lethargy, infectious diseases and neuro-hormonal imbalances. Natural elements such as colors, aromas of plants, herbs (our site) and flowers find their use in treating stress related disorders.
It was in the last century that a French chemist, Rennee Maurice Gattefosse, developed aroma as a therapy when he discovered the therapeutic power of essential oils extracted from lavender flowers.
At present, about fifty varieties of essential oils distilled from plants and flowers are being used for healing various health disorders, especially stress-induced ones. As a part of a holistic assessment, your physical conditions such as digestion, sleep, and support system are taken into consideration including the conditions of heart, mind and spirit.
Essential oils prevent stress effects and precipitate the healing of diseases by increasing a sense of well being in you. Aromatherapy also includes other complementary therapies such as acupuncture, acupressure and massage to increase the effectiveness of the essential oils.
According to Edward Bach, British homeopath and founder of Bach Flower Remedies, flower therapy addresses the perturbed spirit caused by stress and sets right the resulting disorders. In his own words he asserts, "This remedy brings you nearer to your souls and by that very act brings you peace and relieves your sufferings”.
Bach flower therapy uses 37 archetypal soul states in flowers and plants whose therapeutic applications restore the balance in the soul and the defiled mind-body. This therapy primarily addresses your emotional and spiritual issues, but eventually alleviates psychosomatic symptoms induced by stress.
For its effectiveness, flower therapy relies on the vibrational energy of the plant. This system has 38 remedies (37 with flowers plus one with rock water) in its repertoire. Bach flower therapy believes that a flower is a plant's regenerative organ, a harbinger of life itself.
Color therapy is another component of naturopathy, which is applied to relieve stress-induced physical and psychological disorders. Colors, among many other things, are believed to influence your moods and behavior. Every color is said to have a specific emotional effect on you. For example, the color blue is said to have a soothing and calming effect on your nerves, while the color yellow stimulates your intellect.
Many therapists use these color aspects to restore your mind-spirit balance and to stimulate the healing processes in your body. Color with acupuncture is used as the method of color-puncture for clearing emotional and energy (chi/Qi/life force) blockages, restoring new energy to your stressed out mind-body.
